Podcast on Gun Rights and Gun Control

Today, we speak with Dave Kopel, author of Guns: Who Should Have Them? and editor of the book, Gun Control and Gun Rights: A Reader and Guide. Mr. Kopel is also Research Director of the Independence Institute, a regular contributor to the Volokh Conspiracy and runs his own website at davekopel.org where he discusses second amendment issues.

The topics covered in the podcast include: how and if gun issues will play a part in November's elections, how legalizing marijuana could lead to a reduction in violence, what to do about school shootings, international gun rights, and finally, but most importantly, how does it feel to be called "hot" by Bitter at the Bitch Girls blog.

There is simply nothing to add. The podcast said it all.

The idea that the Democrats lost the congress over the assault weapons ban is somthing I had never considered. If they do regain control over congress in November, I hope that they remember that lesson.

I voted for Reagan twice in spite of my strong disagreement with the "War on Drugs". I grew up in Peru and until the drug war began, it was a relatively safe place; in spite of the fact that drugs were available at the price of cigarettes or a pack of gum on almost every street corner.

Once the drug war began, it provided a financing vehicle for the Sendero Luminosa "Shining Path" guerilla movement which made it unsafe to travel without armed protection for 15 years or so.

In the pre-drug-war years, and despite the availability of so many cheap drugs in Peru, use of them (at least by kids in the ex-pat community) the didn't seem to be any greater than what I saw later when I returned to the U.S. to go to school.

As to "hotties", I am male an therefore not qualified to judge the sex-appeal of other men. I recognized the voice of only one "hottie" on the show.

For PC purposes I suppose I should have said "straight male".
