Can we have a discussion about "blogging while extremely hot?"

Hrm. Is that like the opposite of having the perfect face for radio?

Tmink,

What I admired most about the five women bloggers was that they did not whine like a bunch of victims like many of the "feminist" bloggers who like to blame all their problems on the "good old boys network" etc. or they blame their problems on being women, none of these women did and they took responsibility for their actions and thoughts. Many left leaning types find out how it feels to get threats like Kathy Sierra and pretty much have a nervous breakdown. Perhaps right leaning women bloggers are braver than most? or perhaps they are more independent and don't externalize all of their problems or play identity politics. When I think of independent women with strength, these ladies seem to fit the bill more than many of the left leaning women out there who seem both shrill and weak--but this strategy seems to work, unfortunately.

I have heard that Amanda Carpenter is as witty and bright as she is beautiful. She's got that look in her eye. I've never read any of her writing. What have I been doing?

"The loudest person in the room is often the weakest."

Got that quote from the film American Gangster. Very true words, and you'll see the loudest, shrillest bloggers on the left.

Imagine you are a female conspiracy theorist who believes every goal is thwarted by a gigantic, impersonal, almost robotic Patriarchy. Imagine you are a female misandrist who believes that every penis is lethal rape-weapon pointed right at you. Imagine you are a female supremacist who believes that every brain coextensive with a penis is inferior in fact and should therefore be inferior at law. Imagine you are a female who lives the genetic fallacy, believing that because you have a vagina and some people in the past also have a vagina, then you are entitled to feel their indignation as your own.

That's the modern, feminist, liberal gal. No wonder she's batshit crazy.

All this and more, is my guess. Perhaps it is that women who are comfortable and happy with being a woman tend to the Right?

Helen, the women in the interviews talked about having their pictures online and people photoshopping them. What is your view about having your picture online? I think it is nice to know what the person looks like, but I don't have a picture or my real name on mine. Of course I only get a few visitors.

Hi Serket,

I blog under my own name and anyone can find me or my pictures so it wouldn't be very helpful not to have a picture. I like the idea of knowing who I am talking to and a picture helps when I read a blog but then, not everyone feels this way. I say, do what is comfortable for you --if you like pictures fine, if you don't feel comfortable, why bother? I think it would be nice sometimes to blog annoymously--think how much more obnoxious I could be! But with the podcasts, columns and the men's issues posts that I do, I think it is important to be known by name.

It's a riot sometimes when Dr.Sanity gets a Prog Troll assault and they start referring to her as "he" instead of something like "s/he", since they obviously don't really know her gender.

When they are ridiculed on this basis, they usually go away, but one Troll rationalized that Dr.S. sounded like a right wing neocon, and so it was reasonable to assume that she was a man!

Which is also consistent with the "substance" of the Trolls' comments, which are almost always devoid of any relationship to reality or reason, and usually quite bigoted and/or hateful.

I am coming to think that many from the left are just acting out the brain damage that their anxious attachment history left them. Their orbital frontal (or sub orbital frontal) cortex is underdeveloped due to the attachment poverty, and they are left at the mercy of their amygdala and right brain (non verbal) memories.

So they unconsciously act out their abandonment fears on a national and global scale. What is the message of socialism? Mother will take care of you! For them, it is "Mother will FINALLY take care of you" because mom was not able to empathically attune to these folks.

It is why you cannot have a reasoned debate with them, their affective system is not sufficiently integrated into their logic system, and they get into a panic when the abandonment schema are activated. So any thoughts or ideas about personal responsibility equate with their core anxiety of abandonment and annhilation and they have to silence the speaker so they are not overwhelmed. They were left to themselves when they should have been cared for and cuddled, so they were not able to develop a secure autonomy. They cannot trust themselves to meet their needs (not their fault as they were left to do so before they could meet their needs) so they seek the comfort of a truly responsive and protective mother.

It would also explain why the hate the military. The military serves the very masculinized function of protecting us from outside attack. At the time of the developmental injury, father was a rival and the infant unable to fathom an outside attack, only the loss of the mother. So they see the military as un-necessary (why can't we all just get along) or evil because it takes money (once attention) away from the all encompassing mother government.

I started this post out as a bit of a joke, but in writing it I have come to believe it completely. It also fits in nicely with the feminization of our culture.

Not that all leftists are anxiously attached adults, just most of them. Some are non-attached sociopaths who prey upon the anxiously attached to get their power needs met. And some people are just confused.

Wow. I finally understand the left.

I tend not to give the Progs any excuse by analysis - such as yours - even though I think it makes a lot of sense. The problem is that we can't prove it anymore than we can prove that the Prog's dysfunction is due to something else, like genetics. And the Progs are certainly not going to let themselves be defined as a dysfunction to begin with, though we should try to do it anyway. Because we know it is a very bad dysfunction.

So I simply come down to observing and summarizing what the Progs actually do.

In brief, I find that Progs are anti-individual free thought bigots/racists, who see individual free thought as the "other" and therefore oppose it in a most essentially bigoted way. We oppose them because they oppose us, but we see the whole thing as nonsensical, while the Progs simply can't see it as either nonsensical or sensical, which they also prove everyday by their sub-rational expressions.

This explains their hate and opposition to anything good or which works in a practical or truely humanitarian way, and why the Progs nearly always get everything exactly 180 degrees wrong. Check it out. It's rather amazing.

So, basically, what I see going on here is a classic evolutionary struggle between different forms of hominids - those with individual free thought, and those without.

Since evolution seems to have already tended to produce higher forms, and even those having more and more consciousness, I'm betting and expecting that the Progs will lose. And I think the Progs even know this, or at least know that their survival is at stake. So they won't go down without a death-battle.

So be it.

But it won't be easy, and we must fight - as evolution dictates - and as is also demonstrated by our fight against Islamofascism, which seems to occupy the same evolutionary level as do the "Progressives". In fact they seem to be soul[less]mates.

J.P., we agree my friend, but I think that if we could get the money and access to the brain scans we could easily prove that progs have a less developed orbitofrontal cortex. It would be in the pictures! Now, we might also find that productive conservatives have a less developed amygdala or insula, or some part of the wind that I do not yet understand!

The evoloutionary crossroads you speak of is really interesting and a bit chilling. That angle never crossed my mind, but I believe it has merit.

Recently Glen Beck paraphrased Benjamin Franklin, noting how Ben would be labled a hate monger for saying that we should make the poor uncomfortable in their poverty. He was savaged online and called a liar. In the comments, after a bit of slanderous attacks, someone posted the actual quote which was aptly paraphrased by Beck.

The comments continued unabated, ignoring the data. Someone finally said that the quote was taken out of context. So the entire paragraph was posted, and in it Franklin said that coutries that make poverty easier have more poor. It was devastating source material, but it too went completely ignored.

That is arguing by dissociation! Those pesky facts sure get in the way of a lot of really great sociailist ideas!

And thank you for reading my post, it was at the end of the thread and I was worried it would vanish into the great void. From my perspective, it is the some of the the best hinking I have ever put down on paper (metaphorical though it is in this case.) So thanks for taking the time to read and respond.

Eons ago I bought a Canon 3000xi. As one who can't boil water without burning it, I can't imagine, in retrospect, why I bought a camera. It has been on the top shelf in my closet for years.

Let me ask you. The camera has a Vivitar lense. It takes wonderful pictures (I think....) but it eats the battery before I can shoot a whole roll of film. The camera takes one of those pretty expensive weird shaped Duracell batteries that are as hard to find as they are expensive.

Is the camera (being a non digital SLR)worth any money these days? I paid just under a grand for the camera and assorted gee-gaws and knick-knacks that came with it. Perhaps I could trade it in on a digital unit at a camera shop?

Any ideas or pointers?

Wow, too bad about the battery drain. There are people who are certainly big into the Canon line as they have some really wonderful lenses and have perhaps taken over from Nikon in sports photography in particular.

Sadly, I am not sure you could get a lot for it. My biggest problem is that I cannot find one on the net! Have you perhaps disremembered the name of the camera? If not, it is apparently not a really hot item.

Would you please check the name for me?

Thanks!

Yeah a real camera pro here, eh?

On top of my closet (or in my mind) after a few years it became a Canon I thought.

It's a Minolta Maxxum 3000i. I went and got it out to look at the name. No longer made, and as such, no parts available evidently. The camera has taken maybe four rolls of film. The Vivitar lens is the power hungry culprit, I believe. The camera is completely automatic.

Any guidance is most appreciated.

br, the bad news is that the only ones I found were selling at around $100 without a lens. An the Vivatar lens is probably not going to add much more to the value.

Sorry.

Rats.

Perhaps I'll look into a better lens for the camera, or just bite the bullet. With a digital camera, one can just take home after a day's shoot and load pictures into the computer and edit. Seems like pennies from heaven.

Thank you for your efforts!
